Neeracherried

What is this project about?

The Neeracherried is a 105-hectare fen reserve in Switzerland and is of central importance for many bird species as a breeding and resting place.

Regular monitoring of the protected area also includes a survey of the bird species present. Typical inhabitants of the reedbed include various species of rails. Acoustic surveys are used to determine which rails and other bird species occur in the protected area and in which areas of the protected area they can be found.

What does OekoFor do?

We have been providing our ecoPi recorders for acoustic monitoring since 2020.

The data from the recorders is intended to help record the occurrence patterns of various breeding and resting birds in more detail. The focus here is on rail species in particular.

The ecoPi recorder has been continuously optimized over the years. The latest version of the ecoPi recorder is now available to the BirdLife team with the always up-to-date BirdNET software and the dashboard of the ecoPi LiveApp.
